"Next week is one of the unusual episodes that come around every so often, like "The Other 48 Days," in which we get a big download about a new element being introduced to the show. There will also be beatings, subterfuge and gunplay. We'll see a lot of the Island, an important new number is added to the show's mythology, and there will be some new visitors to what Kate once called the Wonderful World of Not Knowing What the Hell Is Goin' On."
The fact that Daniel Faraday had GAS MASKS with him gave me chills - I assume they are planning to give Ben and everybody a taste of Ben's own medicine.
It's probably just the most efficient way to commit mass murder. eeesh.
Cheap but colourful British TV magazine What's on TV has just printed, with a little help from Elizabeth Mitchell, an article about new LOST. It's appallingly written, but that's not my fault, I've copied it verbatim and resisted the urge to change any parts - there is some spoily stuff and info for fans of boobs.
================================== The much-anticipated fourth series of Lost gets under way this week and in the first episode it seems the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 are finally about to be rescued from the tropical island where they've been marooned for months.
At the end of the last series they had been in contact with a ship and a rescue team had been sent out to find them. But things were not all that straightforward, as Charlie scrawled a message on his hand before he drowned in the hatch, warning Desmond not to trust the rescuers. Then, there was the mysterious flashforward to Kate and Jack meeting in L.A.
As usual, secrecy has surrounded the scripts for the latest season and Elizabeth Mitchell, who plays Dr Juliet Burke, reveals that many of the show's major characters will not survive.
"I burst into tears reading the first few scripts", she admits. "But the writers haven't told us everyone who dies yet. Also, you may be dead in the future, but not in the past - and the past is where we're working!"
Juliet is a fertility expert who was brought onto the island by The Others to solve the mysterious deaths of pregnant women. So far, it has been impossible to work out her agenda.
Juliet helped Jack, but then betrayed him. Then we learnt that The Others were using her sister's cancer treatment to blackmail her. So, whose side is she on?
"You can't really trust Juliet", admits Elizabeth. "She's a kind person, but she's just desperate and that may lead to her being somewhat evil - but it may also lead to her saving the day! In series four, we find out who she is. It's amazing she's not crazier!"
Juliet and Jack's growing feelings for each other have also come under scrutiny, especially after they kissed in the last episode. Could romance be on the cards for them?
"Their relationship does develop," reveals Elizabeth. "But then romance develops between Jack and Kate, too."
Elizabeth moved to Hawaii with her family while filming Lost and spends much of this series in a bikini.
"When I got the script I said to my husband 'I've got to go running'," laughs Elizabeth, who has a two year old son. "I didn't stop for three weeks. I even ran at 2.00am along the beach. I won't stop until the producers tell me I get to keep my clothes on!"
- The Freighter people are gonna be pissed that Naomi's dead - There is something they want from the island very badly but are not really prepared for what they are taking on to get it. - They will make mistakes when they arrive on island "much like the survivors of flight 815" - Some of the Freighter people "may have...wait for it...super-powers"
--- Dark UFO reports that Charlotte's full name is Charlotte Staples Lewis - yes that would be the same initials as C.S. Lewis (as in "The Chronicles of Narnia")
Dark UFO has the latest fan Q&A from Kristin @E! Online:
Alex in Chicago: So, Lost! Is Naomi now "all dead"? Because I kind of love Marsha Thomason. I'd like to see more of her. K: Me too! She's now all dead, but she is, let's say, a presence in the next two episodes (at least).
Dave in St. George, Utah: So, what's up with these freighter people? K: There are four of them, and the one that wasn't credited as a regular in the season premiere is my personal fave. Two of the others remind me of Sawyer (snarky and kind of mean) and Juliet (beautiful and capable), and the fourth? Well, before too long he's gonna be truuuh-bul.
Emmy on Louisville, Kentucky: Can you tell us any more about this "fascinating" Sawyer-Kate scene in episode three? K: In the Island's big game of capture the flag, Kate gets tagged out by the other team and sent to "jail." Lucky for her, she's in good with the jailer...
Masha in Miami: Any news on Ben's relationship with Locke this season? K: Well, before too long, it's better than Locke's relationship with Jack.
Janet in Eugene, Oregon: That was a great Hurley interview, but you forgot the biggest question of them all. What was with the Eskimo watercolor painting he was drawing? Was that an Easter egg? K: Funny. Jorge himself brought that up and said that if anyone asks, he wanted everyone to know that that painting is hugely important because it was drawn by...Jorge himself. “I just thought to myself, what would Hurley be drawing? And given that he didn’t want an ocean view and wanted to be as far away from the island as possible, that seemed like the farthest place.” That's all it meant, according to J.G.
So it looks like Hurley is a suprise visionary. That look on Ben's face when he realizes the Hurley saw the cabin. Ben is feeling less and less special.
Dude - those are fucking awesome. I thought this episode just gone was pretty good, but I reckon it's about to get pissed all over by this one.
I guess Naomi's sister was a code after all.
Locke is WELL in touch with that island now.
I guess I can't be THAT spoiler-free as I watched a couple of other vids from that episode on DarkUFO and one of the comments mentioned how Locke's team are basically the new Others, not wanting to leave and being very sinister to the new arrivals.
Iain Lee: "[In series 3], there were some of the best episodes. Desmond, and the "Flashes Before Your Eyes." Jumping through time. Whoa, that was good.
Naveen: "Well, there will be more of that, I think. Different dimensions."
Ausiello @TV Guide apparently has a problem with Thursday's episode "Confirmed Dead". He says it "...would've merited a solid three and a half stars were it not for two annoying blunders — one of which should've been caught by Lost's typically crackerjack continuity police, and another that dumbs down the 815ers to the point where the castaways on Gilligan's Island look smart by comparison
"A decent Juliet fix awaits you tomorrow night. Not only is there a nice little scene with her and Sayid on the beach, but she ends up saving the day — much to Kate's chagrin. Speaking of which, there's a Kate/Jack/Juliet moment that will have you peeing your pantaloons. It's that funny. It's also pretty subtle, so your full attention will be required."
Gotta say - this week - I think ol' Michael Ausiello took a wack pill or something - RE: his last few pieces of opinion-laden info on Confirmed Dead:
1. His two beefs with the episode that he mentioned previously apparently were that - The writers should have spent more time mourning Charlie this episode and - He's pissed that after Faraday says rescuing them isn't "their primary objective", Jack "drops the entire line of questioning. "Fine. I get that there are other things going on. But I don't get that it took Jack (and Kate) almost the entire episode to finally press him for an answer to the $1 million question" Um - Michael - did you watch the same episode I did? There WAS some other shit going down that precluded conversation - like 4 strangers parachuting into their lives, trekking accross the island, guns shoved in people's faces, and someone actually getting shot.
This episode needed to keep moving (like the characters) - the action needed to be maintained for this episode to reflect the unease and stress of these 4 people showing up on the island along with their shady motives. A sudden stop-down and cry session - while totally warranted by Charlie's sacrifice - would have been out of place and screwed up the pacing. And Jack holding off on the questioning was simply the result of not wanting to piss off the people holding guns, and then when the tables turned, wanting to find the helicopter so they could get the hell off the island, more than engaging in a most likely fruitless interrogation of these people - I don't think he cared. And why should he if he's planning to get the hell out of there. Right now, that's his primary objective. Rant over - I just thought Ausiello was annoying and off base.
Namely that "You'll see him in a new light and it's genuinely surprising. It took me by surprise. There is romance, but I can't say where it is or how it is. It's a bit raunchy."
"The previews promised another Oceanic Six reveal next week, but we will also learn about another major main character who's out in the world in the future, who doesn't fall under that banner. Who is that person? The end of this ep pretty much gives it away.
Remember the headspace Sayid was in at the beginning of the series, where he was gonna go straight and not torture people anymore and try to play nice with his fellow man? Well, in the future, that's all shot to hell. Emphasis on shot.
When I caught up tonight with Jeff Fahey (Frank the kick-ass "drunk" pilot), he told me what the fans have accused him of being God, Satan or some dude who's there to impregnate the women on the island. And the clincher? He hinted that one of those is true. What the hey? For more gorey details on that, check back next week for the video, but in the meantime..."
I'm no 'shipper (in fact I find it tedious), but the recent Mitchell and Andrews interviews confirm an "on again" for Jack and Kate and that Sawyer will get it on with someone expected - hence my assertion, after watching them together in Confirmed Dead - that Juliet is the likely "raunchee".
In the off-chance that you are reading this before you have updated your TLI feed or checked in over at the Scott and Steve, the new spoiler seg is up along with the new TLI.
May I choose the Splog to say: the upcoming episode sounds Fucking Fantastic. I know well enough to be excited, but not enough to make watching the actual episode pointless.
a totally spoilery article in the New York Post - without any spoiler warning - way 2 go NYP: :/ The parts that stand out to me (though the information has cropped up elsewhere I think) are in #2: "Season 4 is about who gets off the island and the fact that they need to get back. Season 5 is about why they need to get back, and season 6 is about what happens when they get back." #3: This "Oceanic 6" make it off the island, but one will die - exactly who will be revealed this season. "We've made a choice to focus on the characters that fans have loved since the beginning - Jack, Kate, Sawyer (Josh Holloway), Locke (Terry O'Quinn), Sayid and Hurley," says Lindelof." hmmmm - does this contradict Dark UFO's earlier spoiler saying that the Oceanic 6 are Jack, Kate, Sayid, Hurley, Jin and Sun?
#4: "There will be very significant mysteries answered in the seventh episode," says Cuse. "The eighth episode is non-traditional and the start of something new."
Oops - that was me, MB - posting under the wrong name :)
I'd really love to get people's thoughts on where we think the show is going with the apparent time travel ideas, as evidenced by the the two sneak peek clips which show Desmond arriving on the freighter TWICE it seems. Is everyone else getting that that's what is happening in those clips
Dark UFO has posted the UPCOMING Official Lost Podcast. Definitely a little spoilery since they briefly "re-hash" how confusing and difficult it apparently was to write "The Constant". And of course the questions touch upon forward-looking subjects.
Listening to the clip of Charlotte and Dan, Seattle Jimmy's gonna have a field day with that turbo version of what I (probably erroneously) think of as the Others Theme. Anyway - you know the tune I mean.
I will be curious to see if that's the music that ends up in the show. I noticed on at least one clip previously (The Jack-Kate-Daniel clip from the Spoiler Seg in the "Beginning of the End" TLI), the sneak peek had no music, but the same scene had music when it aired. I haven't been taking note since then so I'll have to pay attention tonight.
"Firstly, the next episode, which is Juliet-centric. It's a flashback, set entirely on the island, that reveals she was actually married to Goodwin (last seen being killed by Ana-Lucia in season two) but isn't so heartbroken as to resist the charms (?) of Jack.
There's also a field trip to new station The Orchid, which is home to "highly volatile and potentially dangerous" research.
The return of Michael (and maybe Walt)... will come in episode eight - the final before a five-week hiatus - called 'Meet Kevin Johnson'. The episode tracks what happened to Michael (is he now known as Kevin Johnson, perhaps?) since he left the island with his son. According to various reports, there are scenes set in New York where Michael meets up with.. wait for it... Mr. Friendly. Yes, the same Mr. Friendly shot dead by Sawyer at the end of season three."
Also - I think I mentioned this on the podcast last week (not sure):
"Speaking to the New York Post this week, Lost guru Damon Lindelof outlined this roadmap for the final three seasons: "Season 4 is about who gets off the island and the fact that they need to get back. Season 5 is about why they need to get back, and season 6 is about what happens when they get back.""
Here's the boiled down version of the info (click the link to see who asked what):
- We will find out who is in the coffin by the end of this season.
- We'll know more of whether Aaron and Ben are officially part of the Oceanic 6 after March 13th (i.e. the Jin and Sun episode "Ji Yeon"). I'm starting to wonder more and more whether the spoiler during the WGA strike of who the 6 are (Jack, Kate, Sayid, Hurley, Jin, and Sun) is accurate or not. We'll see.
- We have not seen the last of SKATE (keep the flame Skaters, keep the flame).
- There are some "growth issues" when you go on or off the island.
- Ep. 8 ("Meet Kevin Johnson") will answer (or at least address) the questions of where Michael and Walt went when they left the island, if he reached the mainland, and if he is coming back to save the 815ers and company.
- According to Carlton Cuse, the reason Juliet is a badass with all her fighting ability and such is that there was "probably some martial arts [training] in New Otherton".
- Jack's flash-forward in the third-season finale takes place AFTER the events of Sayid's most-recent episode ["The Economist"].
- We may get to see a bit of Sayid's childhood in the future. Damon said 'It's certainly something we still want to do. It wouldn't necessarily be an entire flashback based in his childhood, but there may be significant things that happened when Sayid was a kid that we need to reveal."
"Nestor Carbonell has inked a deal to reprise his role as ageless island dweller Richard in at least one of this season's final five episodes. In confirming the news, exec producer Carlton Cuse... described the former Cane thesp as 'a tremendous actor' whose 'return will lead to some very interesting revelations.'"
OK - I'm just going to regurgitate most of the crap I just said in the podcast (to make myself feel better for not posting here all week):
E! Online has an interview with Yunjin Kim where she confirms that we are supposed to find out who the remaining Oceanic 6 are - or IS, if Aaron counts and there is only one more. Not new info of course - I guess we are just waiting to see if the spoiler about Jin and Sun being of the O6 is a foiler or not.
UGO.com has this info: "So far season four has been the reinvention of the flash. You have the multi-character flash. The character flashing back and forth between the past and the present. The future flash, of course. And with “Confirmed Dead,” you have a multi-character flashback. Ji Yeon also does something highly interesting with the flash device. Something you probably won’t be able to figure out until the end. Don’t forget to check back next week and tell me what you thought. "
Kristin also claimed "We will find out why Walt is so tall and why he keeps showing up on the island, also because of time travel." BUT retracted that info on Monday when she also reported these bits o' info: "Cynthia Watros (Libby) is back next week! Not in the present, of course. But still, I’ll take it. And she reappears the same week that Michael (Harold Perrineau) really reappears, so that’s all kinds of awesome. Also, did you hear there’s a funeral this week? Oops. If not, I may have said too much..."
[just as an aside here folks - THAT folks is the piece of info I am most interested in that I do not know! (excited sigh)]
also, as I mentioned, Kristin corrects: "You know what I said in the Watch with Kristin Show about taller ghost Walt being explained in episode eight? Sometimes I talk crazy, and time travel will not explain Walt's wanderings (at least not anytime soon). Walt does appear in episode eight, but 100-percent-trustworthy sources tell me that during his blink-of-an-eye appearance, "He is exactly the size that a nine-year-old should be." And Walt's Island visitations are alluded to in episode 10, but that's it for explaining the mysteries of Walt for the rest of this much-shorter-than-it-should-be season four.
Dark UFO has a summary of points made on the latest Official Lost Podcast with Damon and Carlton. Some of the spoilery stuff they get into while re-hashing The Other Woman and taking questions is
1) Two Hour Finale will now air in two episodes over two weeks because of Grey's Anatomy having a two-hour finale
2) the Tempest is a very important hatch on the island. the Dharma Initative was potentially gassed. Dharma was working on Biological weapons, but are not necessarily bad.
3) Widmore really is the man behind the freighter - and this is a BIG reveal. Ben knows why Widmore is trying to get to the island and we should know by the end of the season also. However they confirm Ben is lying as well - I think they mean about Widmore's motives, but I wasn't sure.
4) We will see Harper again
5) We will find out who Ben's man on the boat is in Ji Yeon (on Thursday)
6) we will see Christian Sheppard several more times and a good question to ponder of [him] is how he is a part of the lives of Jack and the other Losties.
"With the first part of Season 4's episodes rapidly dwindling, expect major revelations from the upcoming "Yi Jeon" and "Meet Kevin Johnson." For a spoilerish look at "Yi Jeon" read on.
"Yi Jeon" is a Sun/Jin Joint flashback that plays out in the days following the Tempest fiasco. With it becoming increasingly obvious that there is no rescue, Sun and Jin decide to evacuate to camp Locke, against Juliet's better judgment.
Remember last season's episode D.O.C.? The good news was that Sun's baby was fathered by Jin, the not so good news was that mothers who are impregnated on the island wind up dying on the island. So will Juliet be able to convince the duo to hold off on moving to Lockeville? Unlikely, but there make be hope for them yet...in the future.
Remember Desmond and Sayid. Yeah, they sort of left them out this week right? Don't worry because next week the two are not only going to meet the Captain of the freighter, they are going to have a chance encounter with a very familiar face at the end of the episode, and you'll not only find yourself asking why, but how this person is on the freighter. The answers are coming in "Meet Kevin Johnson."
Camp Locke is going to have a bit of excitement, we're finally going to find out what happened to Miles after his hand grenade breakfast. Trust me, he's okay, but he might have some choice words for somebody.
Back to the question of the final two members of the Oceanic 6. Doesn't the fact that it is two really speak volumes about who those two are? It's Rose and Bernard, naturally. Okay so it isn't, but who it is must be painfully obvious so its hardly worth mentioning.
The last thing you should know about this episode is that it features a major character death. Yes, I was kind of casual about mentioning that, and there is a reason for it. A reason that will have you hailing the genius of the Lost crew. Hang in there, you can make it."
"I have it on good authority that an upcoming, post-strike episode features both a pair of Arabic-speaking, horseback-riding Bedouins and a luxury doorman of British extraction. Without knowing whether it’s a flashback or flash-forward, whose episode could that be? I had an extra bowl of crazy this morning, so I’m going with a consciousness-imploding guess: Charles Widmore, who is: A) a shadowy figure who has been coming into focus in recent weeks, B) a rich British dude and C) perhaps interested in those polar bear skeletons Charlotte found in the deserts of Tunisia, no? Any more sane guesses?"
And re: the "series-regular death": "Well, tomorrow night's the night! But riddle me this, Lost fans: When is a death not a death, but a brand-new mystery all its own? Meanwhile, I was going to close this week's column by revealing the identity of the remaining members of Lost's super-cool clique, the Oceanic Six, but most of you seem to have it already figured out: *o* *a* *** **e **l* **** *i***."
My idea re: the "death" tomorrow night, is that someone is going to get tossed off the island via time/space travel (perhaps at the Orchid station) a la the Tunisian Polar Bear. I'm wondering if it is Sun or Claire?
Thoughts? I would love anyone's thoughts on this....
Well I just kind of ruined my own speculation (damn), by finding a previous spoiler which I had previously avoided re: the death. If you have read the spoiler I'm talking about then of course, my question is pretty much moot.
"Sun has only three weeks to get off the Island or she'll croak. And here's a curious thought: Is that three weeks in Island time or real-world time? We now know that time on the Island moves more slowly than elsewhere. So, is a Lost-island pregnancy still nine months? Or is it longer? Or could it even be shorter because her body is on real-world time even though her mind is perceiving Island time? [...] Did you hear there's a funeral this week?"
I hadn't thought about it - but he and Walt couldn't have just been picked up by the freighter when they left (without time travel or something) because, according to the timeline Doc Jensen refers to, they left the island in late November 2004 and the freighter has only been anchored where it is since mid-December. So, Doc J posits both the talked about theory that when you leave the island, you end up at different points in time depending on your bearing, and another (I think wack) "alternate universe" one that says that a new Michael and Walt were created when they left the "universe" that the island is in (it doesn't make sense to me either - read it and share thoughts - lol).
* The Korean couple are expected to encounter in the future a not-Jack doctor, a panda and a funeral.
* The freighter’s captain will have in his possession the black box found at the bottom of the sea with the rest of the fake Oceanic 815.
* [AICN is] guessing we get to find out at episode’s end that Michael is Ben’s spy aboard that freighter. (Next week’s episode, the last before a hiatus of several weeks, is Michael-centric.)
"I have a set report today (sadly no pictures to confirm it) but there was some filming action going on @ YMCA's camp erdman (THE BARRACKS) today when i went to go to the area for a swim. I was able to see Sawyer, Locke and Hurley on set. They were filming a scene with Sawyer where he was talking to a group of kids? But here's the best part. They were filming a scene where one of the barrack houses were ON FIRE, and tons of men dressed in military uniforms and war paint and guns stormed the barracks. PRETTY AMAZING?! what are military soldiers doing on the island?"
"Memory of the Day: Remember when I said we'd see a little less of Matthew Fox this season? Just checking.
Claire Is in Trouble. Not only do we know that baby Aaron makes it off the island and she does not, but the promos clearly spell out trouble for the fair-haired mamacita. "The War" as Ben calls it, seems to have begun. (Then again, if Ben the pathological liar calls it a war it's probably more of a bake-off.)
Lost Is Taking a Mini Break. When it returns April 24, we get an episode written by Buffy alum Drew Goddard who teased at tonight's Buffy Paley event that the episode is "maybe my favorite thing I've done on Lost and I've been lucky with all the episodes I've gotten so far." Sounds promising, right?
Also... I'm Heading to the Lost Set Next Week! If you have questions for the Losties, please take a moment to email them to me at tvdiva@eonline.com. I won't be chatting with everyone, but will be tracking down whomever I can, and you know I aim to serve! So send those Q's in, por favor. Check back a little later tomorrow for an exclusive Q&A with Karl himself, Blake Bashoff, who'll be reaching out from the other side, God rest his soul."
The title of the next episode (#4.09) is "The Shape of Things to Come", which is rumored to be either a Ben or Sayid episode (based on shooting sightings which spotted Naveen Andrews and Michael Emerson on set together)
The title is also the name of an H.G. Wells book" which was published in 1933 and is basically written as a precient historical record of the future up to the year 2106.
Dr. Stillman - Male, 50s, any ethnicity. A kind, but no-nonsense psychiatrist who reaches a wall with a patient and has to reach out for help. CO-STAR.
If you are keeping track, that's an amazing 2 episodes in the can in a matter of 26 days. The Lost production unit is a WELL oiled machine."
"Did you think the news flow was going to slow down just because of the hiatus? Well think again! It's just starting, and we have a few interesting rumors to share with you down below:
4.09 - The Shape of Things To Come
Ryan in Hawaii (HawaiiWeblog.com) let me know that filming wrapped today on Police Beach. This means we will see the beachies, as well as camp Locke.
There are some rumors from a reputable source that GI Jack (aka Through the Looking Glass Jack) was in action. Is The Shape of Things To Come a multi-character flash forward? (Ryan's info does not corroborate this rumor.)
Locations used for The Shape of Things to Come: Papailoa (Police Beach AKA Camp Jack), Camp Erdman (Otherton, Camp Locke), Heeia Kea (The forested valley where Karl was shot), Honolulu Community College (Iraq), and Diamond Head for the Otherton interiors and anything secret they may have filmed. Altogether they filmed two solid days on the Iraq set, and another day for pick ups. Definitely enough footage to cover the flash segment, throwing the GI Jack rumor under the shadow of doubt. (Thanks Ryan, again!)
4.10 - Untitled
Dominic Monaghan suggested that 4.10 is a Kate Centric episode.
4.10 Is being shot tomorrow(ish) and there is a TON of interior shooting going on at Diamond Head Studio (thanks, Ryan, again.) I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that 4.10 is going to show us the interior of "The Orchid." But that's nothing more than a guess at this point.
BEYOND: There is a nasty nasty rumor floating around that there will NOT be a Sawyer centric episode this season. That just doesn't seem right."
- Not sure what the ABC Advisory Panel is, but they have apparently put out some survey questions one of which asks how people feel about "Daneille's Death". Not sure if this means she is for sure dead, or if they are gauging her importance to fans while they continue to write future episodes ( or at least map out the story).
"[SUSIE] Any ethnicity, 30s to 40s. A nurse working the late shift who unexpectedly has to help deliver a baby. Professional and compassionate, she tries to help the mother adjust to her new Inreality...CO-STAR.
"Episode 4.10 will be directed by Stephen Williams Episode 4.11 will be directed by Paul Edwards
[MOTHER] Caucasian, late 30s, with red hair and blue or green eyes, Frazzled, annoyed, trying to keep her daughter under control and tired of dealing with her when she seems to only make one bad decision after the other. CO-STAR.
[GELLERT] Any ethnicity, 30s -40s. High school chemistry teacher, intelligent and understanding, he offers a bright student the chance of a lifetime but becomes resentful when the offer is refused. CO-STAR.

[SUSIE] Any ethnicity, 30s to 40s. A nurse working the late shift who unexpectedly has to help deliver a baby. Professional and compassionate, she tries to help the mother adjust to her new reality...CO-STAR."
"I'm a Lost fan currently living on Maui, and yesterday, Wednesday, my girlfriend and I were visiting her uncle on Oahu. We were driving around, looking for past Lost filming locations, and happened upon where they were currently filming.
So I'm sure you already know this, and it isn't particularly helpful, but on Wednesday, from at least 10am till noon, there was filming at Dillingham Lodge. Or should I say, all the traffic was going in and out of the Dillingham estate through the entrance/exit with the "Lodge" sign overhead. We drove by it a couple of times, and once stopped to ask the big security dude what was going on. He said that they were filming Lost there, but that of course we couldn't go on the property.
And while certainly not any new news, we heard from a YMCA Camp Erdman staffer that last week they had filmed there. He told us an interesting story of how the production crew built a new barracks/house just so they could blow it up. He said the first explosion wasn't big enough, so they did it over again, finally getting the explosion they wanted. One part of the camp certainly had the ashes all over the ground to prove it!"
"Hey Losties, We have a bunch of new LOST set pictures and spoilers today from our good friend Ryan@TheTransmission!!
Surprisingly the LOST crew and filming have returned to Windward Community College which is the Santa Rosa Mental Hospital set where we last saw Hurley (Jorge Garcia) in a Flashforward!?
Not only is the crew back on the set of Santa Rosa, but both Garcia and Matthew Fox were spotted on set with some doctors and orderlies. Also pictured was Jack's truck!!
Now, what episode is being filming is a whole different question. We have seen set pics for the potential Sayid or Ben Episode 4x09 and Kate is rumored to have episode 4x10.
However, today's filming suggests a potential Hurley or Jack Flashforward once again. Well as Ryan mentioned, the only real clue we got was the appearance of a doctor who could fit the casting call for Dr. Stillman for episode 4x10.
Is it possible that the crew is working on a Oceanic 6 Multi-Centric episode?? Is this the filming of the rumored Jack Centric finales!? Perhaps it is just another Hurley FF!?"
A filming update courtesy of Ryan's (from the Transmission), Hawaii Blog:
"I know that I’m fortunate to be a “LOST” fan living in Honolulu, able to watch the cast and crew behind the fantastic ABC series right here in my proverbial backyard. But sometimes, even travelers from far off places have better luck than I do in getting close to the action.
Yesterday, on my way to meet a friend downtown, I drove past a “LOST” shoot near Hawaii Pacific University on Fort Street. I sent text messages to a few other fans who I figured might be in the area, and continued onto lunch. Now, I returned later in the afternoon to find the set, built inside HPU’s Frear Center on the second floor of 1132 Bishop Street. But they’d put in several false walls and erected heavy curtains (both to control the light and to discourage looky-loos like me), and the best I could do was chat with other fans.
Well, it turns out that two of the fans I’d alerted earlier in the day were also on the scene, and stuck around to see a lot more than I did. And they were both fans from Europe who’d only recently e-mailed me about their visits to Hawaii. Terje from Norway and Marcel from Germany were kind enough to share their observations from this otherwise closed set.
The scene was set inside St. Sebastian Neurology Clinic, bustling with doctors and nurses in scrubs and white smocks. Matthew Fox was there, of course. But so was John Terry. One scene took place at the hospital’s front desk, and another inside Dr. Jack Shephard’s office. More than a few minds were blown when Sam Anderson showed up… but he was apparently just visiting with his wife and kids. It’s good to know he’s back in town, though!"
Some filming in London - according to one of Dark UFO's sources including Yunjin Kim and Michael Emerson. Dark UFO speculates that it may be for the finale since Jack Bender also flew in to direct (and he has directed all the finales thus far).

AHHHH!!!! All is right with the Lost universe...for the next 8 weeks.
Looking ahead -
Dark UFO has a couple of sneak peeks at Episode 4.02 - Confirmed Dead
Kristin @E! Online has this to say about Confirmed Dead:
"Next week is one of the unusual episodes that come around every so often, like "The Other 48 Days," in which we get a big download about a new element being introduced to the show. There will also be beatings, subterfuge and gunplay. We'll see a lot of the Island, an important new number is added to the show's mythology, and there will be some new visitors to what Kate once called the Wonderful World of Not Knowing What the Hell Is Goin' On."
Oh man - just watched the two preview clips. This show is SO back - BOO-frickin'-YAH
==================================
The much-anticipated fourth series of Lost gets under way this week and in the first episode it seems the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 are finally about to be rescued from the tropical island where they've been marooned for months.
THANKS CHRIS! sweet!
"...many of the show's major characters will not survive."
HOLY SHIT! WTF?!? I hadn't heard about "most" of them not surviving. I had only read about 1 major death - at least in this mini-season.
This COULD be a journalistic error - it's not the most prestigious of publications.
Kristin @E! Online (via Dark UFO) has a video update which includes the following info:
- The Freighter people are gonna be pissed that Naomi's dead
- There is something they want from the island very badly but are not really prepared for what they are taking on to get it.
- They will make mistakes when they arrive on island "much like the survivors of flight 815"
- Some of the Freighter people "may have...wait for it...super-powers"
---
Dark UFO reports that Charlotte's full name is Charlotte Staples Lewis - yes that would be the same initials as C.S. Lewis (as in "The Chronicles of Narnia")
------------
Dark UFO also has the press release for Ep. 4.04 - Eggtown:
Kate's standing with Locke and Sawyer may be Jeopardized when her need to get information from the hostage becomes her top priority.
-------
Dark UFO also has promotional photos from 'Eggtown' as well as scans of scans from the recent issues of Lost Magazine and TV Guide
Dark UFO also has 2 new video clips from Confirmed Dead. Good stuff!
Oh man - awesome clips!
So it looks like Hurley is a suprise visionary. That look on Ben's face when he realizes the Hurley saw the cabin. Ben is feeling less and less special.
And Locke can predict the weather...hmmmm.
"...Locke's team are basically the new Others"
EXACTLY what I was thinking
Woah awesome new clips.
Locke is acting crazier than hell. Kinda like Col. Kurtz from apocalypse now. Gotta love sawyer.
Great spoilers MB. Now I don't have to go searching all over the internets I can just kick back and listen to you.
Thanks goofball! That's the idea - glad you enjoyed.
Whoa! Has Naveen Andrews given out kind of a big spoiler (though pretty general)??:
Dark UFO highlights a bit from a radio interview on BBC Radio 1:
Iain Lee: "[In series 3], there were some of the best episodes. Desmond, and the "Flashes Before Your Eyes." Jumping through time. Whoa, that was good.
Naveen: "Well, there will be more of that, I think. Different dimensions."
Iain: "Different Dimensions?!"
Naveen: "Rocketed into the Fourth Dimension!"
Dark UFO also has a Mitovich Mega Minute interview with Michael Emerson
and
a Sky One TV promo for the upcoming episode - I think. Could be more general.
And there's more...
Ausiello @TV Guide apparently has a problem with Thursday's episode "Confirmed Dead". He says it
"...would've merited a solid three and a half stars were it not for two annoying blunders — one of which should've been caught by Lost's typically crackerjack continuity police, and another that dumbs down the 815ers to the point where the castaways on Gilligan's Island look smart by comparison
And Ausiello also says:
"A decent Juliet fix awaits you tomorrow night. Not only is there a nice little scene with her and Sayid on the beach, but she ends up saving the day — much to Kate's chagrin. Speaking of which, there's a Kate/Jack/Juliet moment that will have you peeing your pantaloons. It's that funny. It's also pretty subtle, so your full attention will be required."
well...I don't wear pantaloons, so...I guess I'm safe
Quick rant against Ausiello -
Gotta say - this week - I think ol' Michael Ausiello took a wack pill or something -
RE: his last few pieces of opinion-laden info on Confirmed Dead:
1. His two beefs with the episode that he mentioned previously apparently were that
- The writers should have spent more time mourning Charlie this episode and
- He's pissed that after Faraday says rescuing them isn't "their primary objective", Jack "drops the entire line of questioning.
"Fine. I get that there are other things going on. But I don't get that it took Jack (and Kate) almost the entire episode to finally press him for an answer to the $1 million question"
Um - Michael - did you watch the same episode I did?
Oh - and - seriously Michael? That eye-wink comment made you piss your pants?
you're a strange man Michael Ausiello
In addition to the "Different Dimensions" comment by Naveen I mentioned above - he also had a comment or two on issues coming up for Sayid in that same interview
Namely that
"You'll see him in a new light and it's genuinely surprising. It took me by surprise. There is romance, but I can't say where it is or how it is. It's a bit raunchy."
Kristin from E! Online (via Dark UFO) has more beans on the upcoming Sayid-centric episode as well as info on Frank Lapidus (Jeff Fahey):
Someone "unexpected" - obviously (duh)
Yes Chris - this indeed should be interesting. I wait to see...
In the off-chance that you are reading this before you have updated your TLI feed or checked in over at the Scott and Steve, the new spoiler seg is up along with the new TLI.
Cheers!
May I choose the Splog to say: the upcoming episode sounds Fucking Fantastic. I know well enough to be excited, but not enough to make watching the actual episode pointless.
Sorry I haven't updated the SPLOG this week - new spoiler seg is a comin' tonight or tomorrow!
Here is the direct link to the FULL SYNOPSIS of "Eggtown" @Dark UFO - as promised in my spoiler seg.
Alright dammit! I've been way too lax posting here! Big appologies to anyone and everyone who might be checking.
A couple of new items already that didn't make it into the TLI Spoiler Seg, which you can CLICK here to download:
A little peek into the future of Lost (mostly stuff you might have seen other places - but a good summary)
and
a totally spoilery article in the New York Post - without any spoiler warning - way 2 go NYP: :/
The parts that stand out to me (though the information has cropped up elsewhere I think) are in
#2: "Season 4 is about who gets off the island and the fact that they need to get back. Season 5 is about why they need to get back, and season 6 is about what happens when they get back."
#3: This "Oceanic 6" make it off the island, but one will die - exactly who will be revealed this season. "We've made a choice to focus on the characters that fans have loved since the beginning - Jack, Kate, Sawyer (Josh Holloway), Locke (Terry O'Quinn), Sayid and Hurley," says Lindelof."
hmmmm - does this contradict Dark UFO's earlier spoiler saying that the Oceanic 6 are Jack, Kate, Sayid, Hurley, Jin and Sun?
#4: "There will be very significant mysteries answered in the seventh episode," says Cuse. "The eighth episode is non-traditional and the start of something new."
also:
pics from tomorrow night's episode HERE and HERE. The full sneak peek clips I played in the podcast are
here (#1 and #2 + a trailer) and
here (#3).
Enjoy!
Good call Chris - now I've got to go back and listen again
I will be curious to see if that's the music that ends up in the show. I noticed on at least one clip previously (The Jack-Kate-Daniel clip from the Spoiler Seg in the "Beginning of the End" TLI), the sneak peek had no music, but the same scene had music when it aired. I haven't been taking note since then so I'll have to pay attention tonight.
Digital Spy has a spoiler-full preview and info on The Other Woman - be warned there is information on the upcoming DEATH - I actually skipped it - (gasp) yes, the spoiler guy decided to not look.
But the other information is:
TV Guide has a Q&A (supposedly) between Cuselof and the cast members.
It wouldn't necessarily be an entire flashback based in his childhood, but there may be significant things that happened when Sayid was a kid that we need to reveal."
damn - belated KABLAMMO!
Good digging, MB.
I get the feeling that a few people actually read this but tend not to comment. Come on, lurker, drop a line.
Another week...another no show from yours truly around here. Very sorry folks.
The podcast is out though :)
Download it at The Scott and Steve blog
or the feed is:
http://www.switchpod.com/users/mimms515/feed.xml
or of course The Lost Initiative is on iTunes.
Ausiello has new news about our favorite ageless eyeliner-lover:
UGO.com has this info:
"So far season four has been the reinvention of the flash. "
Kristin @E! Online has 2 spoiler factoids (there is a video clip):
1) Michael, Desmond and Tunisian Polar Bear been "bounced around time and space".
2) Michael was sent by Ben on a mission, thus is his man on the boat.
Kristin also claimed "We will find out why Walt is so tall and why he keeps showing up on the island, also because of time travel." BUT retracted that info on Monday when she also reported these bits o' info:
"Cynthia Watros (Libby) is back next week!
7) We will see see the Smoke Monster this season.
UGO.com (via Dark UFO) has a basic description of Ji Yeon (or "Yi Jeon" as UGO is printing it - assuming that is a type-o):
Ausiello has more forward looking info: plus speculation about tomorrow night's death (which I have an idea about). He says:
And re: the "series-regular death":
"Well, tomorrow night's the night!
Kristin @E! Online has an idea to ponder
Doc Jensen's teaser for Ji Yeon, including a couple of theories on how Michael can reasonably be Ben's man on the boat.
Episode 9 production photos - looks like...Tunisia?
Also, AICN gives a preview of Ji Yeon - not much new (if anything), but main points are:
* Expect this week to return to flash-forwards.
As usual - sorry for the sporadic posts here. You can download the latest TLI spoiler podcast HERE
I had to get on here because I just saw a cool new spoiler @Dark UFO from The Reporter@Dark UFO:
"I have a set report today (sadly no pictures to confirm it) but there was some filming action going on @ YMCA's camp erdman (THE BARRACKS) today when i went to go to the area for a swim. I was able to see Sawyer, Locke and Hurley on set. They were filming a scene with Sawyer where he was talking to a group of kids? But here's the best part. They were filming a scene where one of the barrack houses were ON FIRE, and tons of men dressed in military uniforms and war paint and guns stormed the barracks. PRETTY AMAZING?! what are military soldiers doing on the island?"
Kristin from E! Online says:
From Dark UFO:
The title of the next episode (#4.09) is "The Shape of Things to Come", which is rumored to be either a Ben or Sayid episode (based on shooting sightings which spotted Naveen Andrews and Michael Emerson on set together)
The title is also the name of an H.G. Wells book" which was published in 1933 and is basically written as a precient historical record of the future up to the year 2106.
One slipped by me -
Doc Arzt has casting info:
"From our source so secret they can't be named:
Ep. 410
shoots 3/26/08
Doc Arzt has a filming update:
Two items via Dark UFO:
- Looks like Jack will get an episode in Season 4
and
- Not sure what the ABC Advisory Panel is, but they have apparently put out some survey questions one of which asks how people feel about "Daneille's Death". Not sure if this means she is for sure dead, or if they are gauging her importance to fans while they continue to write future episodes ( or at least map out the story).

Jorge Garcia was on the Fuselage answering fan questions today and confirmed that we WILL see smokey by season's end
The ODI has a summary of points from the latest TV Guide article on Lost:
"Producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse provided TV Guide with several new details and what we should expect for the remainder of Season 4.
A bunch of great news, so here is the rundown of the spoilers in the article:
1) We will learn "exactly" what happened to Michael between leaving the island and him getting to NYC.
2) Michael is a "pivotal" part of the end of the season and he will have an "impact" on many of the characters, including Sayid.
3) We will see how the Oceanic 6 "escaped the island" and what happens to those that don't leave.
4) The Team Locke v Team Jack debate about who is right will "amplify"
5) We will learn who is in the coffin
6) More about the freighter people
7) We will also find out who "seemingly killed" Karl and Rousseau
There is also a page scan from the article - a picture of Matthew Fox An Evangeline Lily.
Well that's heartening that Cuselof used the words "seemingly killed" re: Danielle and Karl (crosses fingers)
DIRTY SPOILED KABLAMMO!
Exploding Barracks!? Can't wait for that - lol
From Matthew @Dark UFO:
Filming update: Looks like production has returned to "Santa Rosa Mental Institute" - from The ODI - there are also pics courtesy of Ryan @The Transmission:
"Hey Losties,
We have a bunch of new LOST set pictures and spoilers today from our good friend Ryan@TheTransmission!!

NEWSFLASH!!
Apparently - Claire is in danger! ;)
AND looks like episode 4.09 "The Shape of Things to Come" may be when the danger presents itself according to Ausiello (via Dark UFO and ODI)
WOW - if true this would be fairly huge!
Richard Alpert was at John Locke's birth?!?! Ryan from the transmission spotted some filming and has the details
also a small bit more comment on Ryan's info from Dark UFO
Some filming in London - according to one of Dark UFO's sources including Yunjin Kim and Michael Emerson. Dark UFO speculates that it may be for the finale since Jack Bender also flew in to direct (and he has directed all the finales thus far).
