Been away from the SPLOG over the mini-break. Sorry folks!

I just posted a Spoiler podcast today - you can download it download it HERE, or it's on iTunes as "The Lost Initiative"

I will resume posting here with new information (i.e. stuff NOT mentioned in the latest spoilercast)

For anyone who just can't wait to know more about tonights episode Kristin @E! Online has a quote from Damon Lindelof:

"...we've been playing this big love triangle for the entire show. Kate was most recently with Sawyer, but now we're going to see her obviously caring for Jack here on the Island and maybe getting a big surprise about what the future has in store for those two."

mb said...

Also from Doc Jensen via ODI via Dark UFO - another quote from Damon:

"Remember after the finale last season when everyone was asking us why Jack was blathering on about his father in what turned out to be our first flash-forward? It was just the booze and pills talking, right? And hey...why did he start taking pills in the first place?"

mb said...

And one more thing....

(spoilers - Columbo-style - lol)

AICN via Dark UFO (posted by ODI) has a rundown of some key plot-points coming up tonight (stuff that you may have read/heard before):

* Kate and Juliet perform an emergency appendectomy. Jack just can’t stop making Kate perform surgical procedures! Is the island trying to kill Jack? Will Kate count to five?

* Lapidus returns to the island and runs into Sawyer’s group. Will we learn that Lapidus is on the freighter and the island simultaneously? Will he have a conversation with himself?

* More flashforwards, again showing Jack’s life away from Dharma Island.

* Jack looks likely to pay an old friend another visit at the Santa Rosa Mental Institute.

* Though ABC doesn’t mention him in the episode’s synopsis, John Terry may again turn up as a not-dead Dr. Christian Shephard.

Henry Ian Cusick was online April 25 and answered some fan questions via The Washington Post, here are the first two:

Woodbridge, Va.: First of all - You are awesome brotha! And dead sexy, too, but now for my serious question, which you may not be able to answer. Did you know when you started on "Lost" that your gig was going to last this long and you were going to become such an important character? Or did your role just develop along the way? You've certainly come a long way from pushing buttons in the hatch.

Henry Ian Cusick: Thank you. Nope I didn't have a clue, but delighted the way it turned out!

_______________________

Chicago, Ill.: Firstly, I just want to say that you have done an amazing job with the role of Desmond. The emotions and the hardships he has gone through, and yet the calm acceptance with which he handles all of his obstacles makes him such a strong character which we all can't wait to see more of!
The "Lost" fan community was (and still is) buzzing about the wonderful performances by yourself and Sonya in "The Constant," and the uniquely true romance between the characters. With the latest episode's reveal of Ben's personal vendetta, what do you think will become of Desmond and Penny?

Henry Ian Cusick: I just read the season finale...and I am totally clueless how next season will pan out.
------------
As my favorite character on Lost I've enjoyed your appearances on the show so far this season. What has been the biggest surprise for you (in terms of what has happened to Desmond) so far in Season 4?

Henry Ian Cusick: It's in the season finale...and it's a goodie!!!

A production/filming update for from Ryan's Hawaii Blog:

"As we draw nearer to the Season 4 finale, the “LOST” production crew is bringing the story ever closer to the pivotal moment when the Oceanic Six get off the island. To tell that story, they headed way out to Wai’anae, the arid, rural west coast of O’ahu. They established a base camp at Wai’anae Regional Park, and enlisted a handful of boats to carry equipment and crew across Pokai Bay.

The cast and their stand-ins took their direction on shore, then made their way into the ocean to film their scene. It was relatively simple in the narrative sense, but working on the water always makes things exponentially more complicated. Crewmembers had to keep a handle on a surfboard-riding director, handheld cameras and cameramen buffeted by the surf, a sound boat rocking on the waves, and keeping props from floating away. The primary prop? A large, octagonal life raft.

Action is called, and the stars get wet. Jorge Garcia, Yunjun Kim, Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Naveen Andrews and Josh Holloway swim toward the raft through some debris. In several takes, Hurley — clutching a doll that’s most likely playing Aaron — helps pull Kate, Sun, and Sayid aboard. But Jack and Sawyer take a little longer to reach them. And Sawyer is holding someone who’s not moving.

Who is in trouble? Exactly how did the Oceanic Six (plus one) end up in the water? Where are they? And how do they get from here to Hawaii? The answers will come soon enough!"

From Entertainment Weekly via Spoilerfix.com:

"The last three episodes include only one flashback, which the producers say will be a mythically significant outing for... someone. The rumor: Locke."

mb said...

Not sure how I missed this one - from Doc Arzt (on April 17th!):

Usually, we avoid these sorts of things... BUT! There are some pretty awesome rumors circulating including some highly credible cast sightings and shooting alerts that work together in a very interesting way. So without further delay...
Francois Chau is ON THE ISLAND! This may suggest that he has a large part in a flash sequence, or that he is doing the orientation film work for The Orchid set, which leads us to rumor number 2.

The Orchid is one of the largest Dharma Station sets built so far. It apparently features multiple floors and different sections that have different purposes.

Check out clip of Cuselof on Kimmel which includes a sneak peak clip near the end, and another sneak peak of the next episode - Cabin Fever

UPDATE TO RYAN'S FILMING UPDATE (via Dark UFO):

UPDATE: Turns out the guy in blue I thought was Josh Holloway was in fact Henry Ian Cusick’s stand-in. Special thanks to the spoilerhounds at Fishbiscuit.com, who obviously know their hunks better than I!

**UPDATED** Ryan just messaged me saying that he thinks Daniel Dae Kim (Jin) was NOT on set. However, looking at the screencap posted it does look like him. So we can not say 100% that he was there, so sorry for any confusion.

mb said...

I didn't see the promo but Dark UFO is saying that the one that aired last night has a clip of Captain Gault shouting "Torch the island!"

To answer the question on the SAS blog of the general layout of seasons 4-6, I am copying a post from the last thread:

"From a totally spoilery article in the New York Post - without any spoiler warning (way 2 go NYP).
The parts that stand out to me (though the information has cropped up elsewhere I think) are in
#2:

"Season 4 is about who gets off the island and the fact that they need to get back. Season 5 is about why they need to get back, and season 6 is about what happens when they get back."

mb said...

OK I thought I'd post this twice to give extra headroom so that unspoiled glancing eyes don't see the stuff above:

Going back and playing catch up:

MAY 8TH SPOILERS:

The mom of one of the baby extras on set had these bits to report in a post on Lost-forum.com:

We have been in the jungle, at a church, in a rescue plane and on the studio lot. This is the last week of filming.

Both Claire and Kate have held my little one. Kate was amazingly sweet and polite. Sawyer sang us songs on his guitar off set. Ate lunch (amazing food) near Locke and Ben. Hurley took pictures with us. Sayid (crazy accent!) was so kind and gracious offering us extra water.

It has been the greatest adventure. 90% of the cast and crew are so great to work with!

I dont want to spoil too much, but interestingly enough I dont ever remember having to sign a confidentiality agreement.

So I will walk a fine line....

Interestingly enough. Most of the extra babies are girls!

------

Emilie de Ravin gave an interview to E! Online in which she cryptically responded to the question:
"Do we get Matthew Abbadon's "Are they alive?" question answered?"

"It's somewhat answered, but somewhat not."

great. thanks emilie :/

---------

Also Ryan of The Transmission had a filming update and posted some photos.
Apparently the production team were filming scenes at the following location sets: Kate's house in Kahala, Santa Rosa in Kaneohe, and Hoffs Drawlar Funeral Parlor in Liliha, and he spotted Jack's future car (from the flash-forwards) was at the funeral parlor.

--------

Carlton and Damon were on 106.7 KROQ's morning show this morning and one of the radio hosts asked about the numbers. Either Carlton or Damon responded that the numbers will be back in the season finale.

mb said...

ON MAY 9th - Kristin @E! Online interviewed Damon and Carlton and some of the spoilerish factoids of note that they spoke of are:

* The question is not whether Claire is dead but “What happened to Claire?”
* Christian Shepard is dead.
* They know whom Kate will end up with in the very end.
* Time travel is definitely happening on this show.
* Sounds to me like Richard Alpert is doing it. (Remind me later of a theory I have relating to time travel and the knocking up of Losties' moms!)

-------------

"Sounds to me like Richard Alpert is doing it"

TWSS!

A poster called Aloha Oe @Survivor Sucks message boards had a filming update - also at the "Hoffs-Drawlar funeral parlor" set:

"They are filming at the same funeral home as end of last season when Jack went alone to the funeral home and no one else was there....Kate's response as to why she didn't go was "Why would I go?" as if she hated the person in the coffin. Now, they are obviously filming the final episode for this season, same place and the only star to be seen...hold on to your hats....is DESMOND! in suit and tie, hair pulled back...it couldn't possibly be Desi in the coffin could it? That makes no sense! Oh yeah, right, this is LOST...but if it is Desmond in the coffin, what could he have done to piss Kate off so much? Why did he die alone and no one cared....he wasn't one of the Oceanic Six...so much to ponder...
Aloha again folks! "

Dark UFO comments that this either means Dez is in the coffin, or he gets off the island. I would add that it POSSIBLE that it's a flashback, but I hope it's not :)

Damon Lindelof talked with THR.com about the season finale and beyond.

He said the that the Season finale will be "less tricky" this year (as in they aren't trying to disguise a flash-forward as a flash-back), and that it will be more of a straight-forward action/adventure narrative, and that the ending will [hopefully] engage and intrigue viewers.

Here is the sneak peek video clip that I read the description of on the podcast

mb said...

Well, it looks like LostFan108 is back at DarkUFO and he/she has a complete synopsis of part 1 of There's No Place Like Home. I'm not reading it (I've decided that that's where I draw my line) but for those who go the full yard-age with spoilers, HERE 'TIS - in form of a video which scrolls text onscreen I believe

Doc Jensen @EW has a nice long article about Lost which is replete with theories and ideas about the show, one which I think is intriguing (not sure how plausible - but I like it):

"Locke and his fellow Left Behinders escape Keamy and the freighter mercenaries by using the Dharma time machine to quantum leap into the Island's past, where Locke finds himself the leader of the Hostiles. The other castaways? Members of the Dharma Initiative! And guess what? They can't remember who they are! (Now you know why Sawyer was so dazzled by Room 23 last season: déjà vu!)"

According to Dark UFO one of these people is gonna die in the finale:

Desmond
Locke
Sawyer
Michael
Jin
Bernard
Juliet

AND

Also also according to Dark UFO The person in the coffin is one of these:

Ben
Sayid
Desmond
Jacob
Sawyer
Locke
Alpert

But the prediction that the Oceanic 6 would include Jin was a foiler - so we'll see how accurate these are.

mb said...

For those who want to know who the "spectacular kiss" will be between Dark UFO says:

"Well after seeing the Promo for the Finale in 2 weeks I can confirm that the "Spectacular" kiss that people like Kristin have been raving about is between Kate and Sawyer. But there is more to that scene that has not been revealed yet. This will be revealed in more detail when we post the synopsis highlights for the finale from Lostfan108 either on Sunday evening/Monday morning UK Time."

mb said...

Evie was on the Bert radio show yesterday and said that when TPTB filmed the scene where you find out who is in in the coffin - they filmed it with 4 versions with 4 different actors for secrecy purposes.

So the spoiler previously reported about Desmond being at the funeral home is kind of meaningless at this point I think. We'll just have to see who it is.

mb said...

Oops - here's the link to the audio of Evie on the Bert show.

TV Guide interviewed Lost Producer Jean Higgins who, though completely non-committal in all of her answers, had a FEW hints and 'maybe's:
- "Moving" the island required the creation of a new set piece which "a very interesting" one ... and "It will be cool," she adds, proudly.

- RE: the promise to Sawyer that Kate made (which enrages Jack) - "I would say that will come out most likely next year," she ventures.

- RE: the possibility of a new group of characters next season (a la Seas. 3 w/the Others, and Seas. 4 w/the freighties) - "I would say it would be strange if there wasn't one," is all Higgins will allow.

mb said...

Well damn...sorta. I missed reading the big major episode synopsis from Lostfan 108 this year. Apparently ABC/Disney forced Dailymotion (I think they were the video server) to remove Dark UFO's video of the text of the spoiler. You can read through the comments and catch some of the main points by what people have discussed.

My GREAT apologies for falling down on the job here.

AAAAAIIIIII!!!

Ausiello @TV Guidehas news that makes me nervous for several characters:

"The significant death I hinted in the last AA? It's for sure an original cast member. This just in: Better make that (gulp) three original cast members. That's right, per my Lost mole, a trio of island vets won't survive tomorrow's finale. Crikey!"

Michael Emerson did an interview with TV Guide and gave some insight into the finale and where Ben Linus is at (story-wise):

TVGuide.com: Give me three words to describe the season finale.

Michael Emerson: [Thinks] Dark. Violent. Casualties.

TVGuide.com: About a year ago, you and I spoke about how Ben was loath to ever leave the island. And yet we've now seen that it is something that does happen. What do you think changed there?

M.E.: Ben's attachment to the island was... provisional. He's always been able to leave it. But now there's some question of him maybe having to abandon it – and that's as a result of developments in this last season.

TVGuide.com: So it's always been there as an option, but it's only recently that he has chosen to avail himself of it.

M.E.: I think so, yes. Things have gone so... wrong. Events have forced his hand in a number of ways. And John Locke appears to have been "anointed" somehow.

TVGuide.com: Ben appears to be making some sort of peace with that shift.

M.E.: Yes. His gut reaction is that of a teenage boy, which is to be vengeful and full of rage and bitterness. But eventually, he will always play the board as it is in front of him. He will accept the terms.

TVGuide.com: "Whatever makes Jacob happy."

M.E.: Exactly.

FYI - there's more of that Emerson interview at that link

USA Today did an interview with the man who has created the focus of my hatred during Seas. 4 (i.e. Keamy - all props to Kevin Durand though - excellent work):

Durand said "Lost was really fun. If I can have that experience in any genre, I'd take it."

[the use of the past tense here would suggest he's not returning next season and so may very well die in the finale - which I think many people guessed]

Also in the interview.

Asked to concoct a flashback plot for the stone-cold killer, Durand chooses his words carefully. "Keamy has a very big personal stake in this mission, and it's beyond anything monetary. He's just trying to get it done as soon as possible. It has to do with his family, so that's why he's working at the pace he is."

well so much for the KABLAMMO in that last post - I had posted a link to the wrong TLI spoiler episode - here's this week's spoilers (minus the ones posted here today):

TLI SPOILERS: No Place Like Spoilerville

More of that Michael Emerson interview with TV Guide.com - here is the spoilery chunk of it (click the link if you want to read the whole thing):

TVGuide.com: When the Others' shrink said to Juliet, "Of course Ben has a crush on you. You look just like her," who is "her"? Ben's mother, or the little girl he befriended on the island...?

EMERSON: It could be either... or a third choice. That’s a really tantalizing question. I still think we're going to revisit that little girlfriend of his that made him the carved image.

TVGuide.com: The moment where Alex was killed, coming on the heels of Rousseau's death. Was it hard to lose your 'family" there? Or did you suspect it would put this new fire in Ben's belly?

EMERSON: That is the way it's to function in the show – Ben now has the great motivation. He was cheated, and the game was upset. Now we see him prone to a feeling of grief and vengeance that is perfectly human. That will fuel his mission for the rest of the series.

TVGuide.com: When do you like playing Ben the most?

EMERSON: There are a couple of ways I like playing Ben. I like it when he's in a jolly mood. Like when he had his little dinner party for Juliet. He's bustling around the kitchen, fixing food.... There's something surreal to see him do that. That’s a fun antic Ben. Ben's stock-and-trade is those tense scenes in confined spaces, where a lot hangs on a high-pressure conversation.

TVGuide.com: At the end of the day, what do you think will be harder to explain: Who or what is Jacob, or who or what is the Smoke Monster?

EMERSON: The explanation of who or what is Jacob is going to be richer and more satisfying than who or what is the Smoke Monster. I have my own ideas about what the Smoke Monster is, and it's purely scientific. The explanation of Jacob, I think, may be more.

TVGuide.com: When that series finale airs, do you think it will be indisputable that Ben is "the good guy" here?

EMERSON: I would be surprised if we walked away from Ben feeling anything but... ambiguous. I don’t think they'd let that go.

TVGuide.com: Because in the future he seems to be doing the right thing.

EMERSON: Certainly his mission is going to be recontextualized — maybe many times — before the end of [the series]. Short of some amazing transformation – his becoming a monk or an alien or something like that – Ben seems a man fated to go on with this battle. And I wonder if the battle ever ends....

Dark UFO has posted another sneak peek clip which is an extension of the Locke/Jack clip from yesterday. GOOD STUFF!

The Boston Herald has an interview with Emilie De Ravin where she has a few more cryptic and forward-looking things to say:

RE: the finale tonight - "...you don’t know what happens to Claire,” she said. “That’s not one of the things that comes to a conclusion. The finale has more questions than answers. I have to be tight-lipped about the finale. What can I ever say? It’s big. There’s a lot going on. It’s sort of interesting what you see in the future.”

also,

RE: Claire in Jacob's cabin:
“She is not evil, but there is something going on that I don’t know about."

And,

She promises that viewers will see Claire in the season-ender.
“Claire sort of pops up in an unexpected place"

Someone over at Zap2It blogs has some info apparently on some of the questions that will be answered tonight:

- What does "moving the island" actually entail?

- Why did only six survivors make it back to civilization, and why are those survivors lying about the people who were left behind?

- Why is Kate pretending that Aaron is her biological child?

- What is this boy's significance in the greater scheme of things?

mb said...

Ain't it Cool News (via Dark UFO) has some factoids about tonight's finale:

- Tonight we learn more about Ben Linus, and more about Charles Widmore.

- Greg Grunberg, the pilot in the pilot, returns for what is rumored to be tonight’s only flashback.

- Michael, Jin and Desmond will deal with the freighter bomb. Not with a lot of success, one assumes.

- Miles, who seems to know a secret about Charlotte, will tell Daniel he wants to stay on the island.

- Sawyer will make it onto Lapidus’ helicopter with Jack, Kate, Hurley and Sayid. But a heroic sacrifice will need to be made…

ONE MORE piece of info as we wrap up this thread and go into the post-season doldrums (sigh) -

According to E! Online (via Dark UFO):

"...our Claire-bear (Emilie de Ravin) will not be a regular in season five, but rather she will be on a "holding contract." However, after her sojourn in the underworld, or wherever she is, she will return to us for season six."
