First (Is that done here?)
So this is the Splog I've entered the dark side:) Listened to three episodes last night funny stuff MB

mb said...

thanks man!

yes - firsts, seconds, thirds, kablammos are all totally valid here. I just don't always do them b/c usually I'm the only poster - lol.

It would be great if people wanted to talk about stuff that's spoilery.

I just have to find some spoilers....good luck to me for the next few months - lol

MB your a tempting Bastard(LOL) I so want to go to the dark side!! At one point when I was catching up with TLI last year I almost sent you an Email offering to take over half of the spoilers duty for you. I was thinking how it might suck to know stuff ahead of the time. Your first viewing is'nt UNKNOWN? I felt bad for you(proble dumb you enjoy it most likely The Hunt is On Bitches).
But I thought hey I'd do half and youd do half and at least some stuff was unexpected! so you could get some surprises.
But I now, am not sure I could make that sacrifice. ]
But any HOO I felt bad for MAC when he kept rebooting and lost his constant poor guy.....Good thing you were there for him when his special friend left:(Poor MAC Maybe he'll find a love later on down the Spoiler Line. Thanks for the reply just wanted to say you crack me up last season when you came on board. And want you to know it's fun for the nonspoilers to go back and listen. I don't listen in LOST season for fear of listing!! I Mean your 90% correct so far VERY TEMPTING!! Although Jin was'nt one of the 6 And I'll tell you in my drunken state that I always thought the oceiniac 6, Corny I think trying to find out the 6 was the last thing on my mind. Being Aaron Whoopdedoo. Just kinda sensless to me but Understandable.. I guess it's kinda noticable I've had 6 or 7 so all in all MB I love your stuff Thank You! for th elots of LOL LOL. 30yrs old typing lol seeems.....

Thanks RRB! You are too kind - and very cool of you to think to offer to do some of the spoilers! However, you are right that I don't mind. It actually truly helps me, since I usually only have time to watch an episode once (repeated viewings are not part of the weekly schedule such as my life is) and knowing some of the stuff beforehand helps me focus on other details that would normally take me another viewing or two to catch.

That said, I have actually come to the conclusion that I am not going to read the full episode descriptions anymore. I accidentally missed the opportunity to read the full rundown of the finale this year, and it seemed like the perfect balance between knowing some of what was going to happen, but not knowing everything. I may try to peek at PARTS of the full rundowns to glean a few bits of info, if there aren't any other good spoilers around in a given week, but that's never really been a problem (there's usually plenty of stuff to report).

Hopefully this won't bother listeners too much - I didn't get any hate mail by limiting what I said on the podcast about Through the Looking Glass last year, so I think people seem to be okay with limiting their spoiler exposure (at least I hope so).

Thanks for listening - and thanks for posting :)

damn - should've Kablammo'd that one

OH - and re: the Oceanic 6 spoiler you mentioned RRB -
That totally suprised me - there was a lot of discussion online and what SEEMED like VERIFYING the nature of that spoiler, so I really didn't think that was going to turn out to be a foiler at all. Serves my spoiler-lovin' ass right for walking on the dark side ;)

mb said...

for anyone reading this who doesn't remember - the spoilers I reported said that Jin WAS one of the Oceanic 6.

mb said...

w00000000t!

SOME REALLY GENERAL AND ALMOST NON-SPOILERY...

SPOILERS!!! enjoy!

Kristin E! Online (at least I think it's Kristin) says (in short) that Michaels definitely dead since Harold Perrineau has signed onto a new ABC 'Dramedy' called "The Unusuals", Jin will BE BACK (YAY!...unless it's a foiler) b/c he was on he deck of the ship and was probably blown of the boat or jumped, Emilie de Ravin (Claire) is on a holding contract for season 5 but will beback for season 6, and when Ben came and talked to Jack @the funeral parlor, it really was Ben and not a ghost or vision.

Here is all of the Q&A:
Janet in R.I.: Anything new to report on Harold Perrineau’s death on Lost? I was so sad to see him go!

E!: You and me both, babe. But the good news is that Harold is set to star in a dramedey on ABC (he was cast in the pilot The Unusuals), which is music to my ears. If you’ve seen much of H.P. in real life, you know he is (a) hilarious, (b) funny and (a) did I mention the funny? And of course, he can act his ass off. Personally, I never felt like poor, unlikable Mikey-poo did him much justice, so a fresh start where he can flaunt his comedy chops sounds good all around to me. Just my opinion! If you disagree, let mama have it in the comments below...

Mena in Los Angeles: Please, spill the beans! Is there a chance that my darling Jin survived the freighter explosion on Lost?

E!: Jin is gonna be fine. I don't know exactly how, but he's going to be fine. I suspect that the difference between Michael's and Jin's survival is that Michael was trapped inside the hold, whereas Jin being up on the edge of the deck meant he had a chance to be blown clear of the ship. Besides, the guy magically survived the crash of a 747 and the wreck of the raft. No reason he shouldn't survive this shipwreck—I choose to believe the Island clearly joins us all in loving him and wanting to keep him around.

Cristina L. in Miami: About the person leaving Lost next season but returning the for season six...You said it's a girl from the first season, so is Rose included, or do you just mean Kate, Sun and Claire.

E!: Rose would have been included, but as revealed in the Redux's "What's to Come" section, Emilie de Ravin will be on a holding contract with Lost for season five and returning in season six. But don't worry, you can get your Emilie fix elsewhere in the coming year: She's got a part in the Johnny Depp flick Public Enemies, she's in the period baseball picture The Perfect Game with Clifton Collins Jr. and last but not least, she'll be costarring in Ball Don't Lie with Nick Cannon and Ludacris. Even without Lost, she's going to be a busy cookie!

Marc in Brooklyn, N.Y.: When Ben was in the funeral parlor in the finale, was that live, real, off-island Ben or dead, spirit-vision Ben?

E!: I had to read the comments of the Redux to figure this out (thank you Nick!), but I think that was the real Ben, because...When he moved the Island, he was teleported (or whatever) to the Tunisian desert, where we find him at the beginning of the circa 2005 flash-forward in "Shape of Things to Come." When we first see him in that scene, he has a wound that matches the cut on his arm at the end of "No Place Like Home." Crazy, right? So, to me, it does seem like he's been genuinely exiled from the Island, and since he leapt forward to 2005 he has been living and working only in the "real world."

....and again...missed the Kablammo...(head drops down & sighs)

Sky ONE in the UK aired a "Lost Answers" programme (note Brit spelling :) ) and these are some factoids that were gleaned from it by a Dark UFO contributor/poster (I think - lol):

- The black smoke is "misunderstood"

- Christian Shepard will become very important next year

- They have no answers for the love triangle

- They say the flash forwards show that aren't making it up as they go along

- Both Ben and Charles Widmore are very important

- Michael Emerson thinks Ben will end up being a hero

- Lost will definitely end at the end of Season 6.

- Season 7 - The Zombie Season was a joke.

- JK Rowling will write Season 8 and Damon and Carlton would write the 8th Harry Potter book.

- Everyone has great hair on the island due to a woman named "Marge" who was on the plane attending a hair competition in Sydney along with a suitcase full of hair supplies.

Chris JC said...

This probably all comes from that "exclusive interview with Damon and Carlton" that Iain Lee from the Sky One podcast (cough"The Lost Initiative"cough) claims to have seen.

Not to have conducted.

But seen.

If it's full of revelations like "the zombie season was a joke" then it must be fascinating".

mb said...

lol - Iain Lee is implying credit for the interview? That's funny :D

Dark UFO has the whole Sky ONE 'Lost Answers' show in 3 parts

Late on reporting these bits from Kristin:

She answered some "fan questions" (are these real? really?) and among other less spoilery things, talked of the general layout for Season 5:

"...Sawyer, Jin, Locke and company will be present and accounted for. I think a lot of season five will be a great ironic contrast between what the O6 think is happening on the Island, and what the Islanders think is happening in the world (all while the Widmore-Linus war rages around them)."

AND

Kristin thinks that Ben saying that "everyone" needs to go back to the island includes Walt and Ji-Yeon (and "innocent babies and children whom their mothers and feisty grandmothers are strongly disinclined to take back to the Dangerous Island of the Four-Toed Statue")

mb said...

Kristin also is saying that the island moved in TIME (watch the video)

it's Jellyman btw...

mb said...

Hey Jellyman! Thanks!

.......got any spoilers? :)

(no but seriously - I'm startin' to jones)

mb said...

Not REALLY spoilers, but at least it's spoiler DISCUSSION :)

Dark UFO lists out a bunch of stuff that TPTB have said was coming and yet we STILL wait on spoilers for (and to then be ON the show of course) - click the link for more explanation, but briefly:

1. The skinny on Rousseau's ship/crew incl. Montand and his arm
2. Libby's backstory
3. Cuselof said Eko could be back (not in a flashback) - maybe Hurley's chess game was it?
4. The psychic's predictions for Claire
5. The story behind Walt's abilities
6. The Others obsession w/kids (beyond the island's fertility issues)
7. There were supposed to be "multiple factions" of Others.
8. More on Horace Goodspeed and Olivia.
9. the story of Ben's Annie
10. The volcano
11. (of course) the 4 toed statue

and of course
12. WHAT IS THE SMOKE MONSTER (they HAVE said that we'll find out by the END of the series)

I wonder if any of these story ideas have been axed due to the series now having an end date - it does seem like everything picked up speed (as evidenced by season 4) once they were writing with that in mind.

Trevor McFur said...

Is this actually something that they've said recently, or things that have been said along the line, like at Comic-Con, or in an OLP two years ago, etc?

mb said...

I'm pretty sure this is a compilation of things that Dark UFO have put together from the past several years.

(sigh) I wish my job was to do that kind of research - lol

mb said...

Kristin @E! Online interviewed Cynthia Watros who "accidentally referred to Libby as "Annie". Probably just a a verbal trip-up but an interesting idea I think! It could explain spending some time in the mental institution - she may have been seeing 'ghosts' as Jack and Hurley have.

mb said...

DAMN!

.....late kablammo

From the New Zealand Dominion Post via Dark UFO:

"Grant Bowler who play Captain Gault has mentioned in an article this morning that he will be filming more scenes for Lost later this year even though he died."

Flashbacks I imagine, but as I never tire of saying - with this show anything is possible :)

mb said...

Looks like Nestor Carbonell is back on board (full time? not sure)

Sorry for "Cane's" loss.....ok not really :)

Very psyched he's back on a regular basis!

Carlton Cuse was part of a TV film forum in China (looks like a regular sit down w/interviewer along w/a writer from Ugly Betty)and makes some points, some of which are:

1) In Season 5 Jack will become more a Man of Faith and Locke will become more a Man of Science. Locke believes his destiny is tied to this island. This will be a story line that we will explore in the upcoming seasons.

2) We will learn what happened to Locke and the others. Also, now what is Locke's destiny since he is in "charge" of the island? He has committed his destiny to this island and thinks that it will lead him to enlightenment. We will eventually see if he is right or not.

3) Locke's story is not over. There is a famous guy named Jesus Christ that was resurrected.

4) Kate will end up with either Jack or Sawyer eventually.

5) New LOST interactive game start at Comic-Con, register to become a member of Dharma Initiative. Depending on how you do on the test you will be a Physicist, Chemist, or even a Workman.

6) Production starts in August and Season 5 will air from January to May 2009.

There are a couple more pieces of info about writing for the show, the strike, and few other less spoilery items. Click the above link to read the whole spoiler + there is a video (although the first part did not load for me)

According to Naveen Andrews, the series finale will be "on the island":

Q: Do you know how will end the show ?

NA: The finale will be on the island, apart from that, I don't know any thing in advance, This is what makes the job fascinating but frustrating. I just hope all mysteries will be resolved in a smart way.

Q: Do you make suggestions to the writers?

NA: Rarely. During season 1, i suggested that Sayid lived a romance with someone on the island, and they created his relationship with Shannon. But it wasn't very long...I would like my character to live a new romance in Season 5.

Who knows if this really means anything or if its just the reporter making something out of nothing but Kevin Durand (seems to) leave the door open to Keamy returning in Seas. 5 (or beyond?)

From the article @tbsource.com:

'And while his Lost character was seemingly killed off in this season’s finale, Durand said he wouldn’t be surprised if audiences saw Keamy again next season.

“The guy just doesn’t want to die,” he said.'

Again, this seems like a exceedingly thin rope I'm hanging onto by considering it a spoiler. Welcome to the pre-production off-season! - lol

I haven't checked to see when production DOES start - lazy bastard that I am ;)

Some possible casting info re: John Terry and Alan Dale - I kind of figured we'd be seeing more of them in the next two seasons...

Ausiello @EW has the info:

John Terry (Christian) and Alan Dale (Widmore) are in talks to return next season on a recurring basis. Big frakkin’ whoop, right? Well, here’s where it gets interesting: In the fine print of both their contracts, it states that Lost has the right to pick up series regular options on both actors for the show’s sixth and final season. For insight into what this could possibly portend for Lost’s endgame, please join me in welcoming the man, the myth the legend, guru of all things Lost, Mr. Doc Jensen! “The prospect of expansive roles for Jack's maybe-dead dad and Penelope's dastardly deep-pocketed pop suggests a theory about the Island's true significance. Here is a seemingly-magical place where the lame can walk anew, the impotent can once more shoot bullets, and anyone can crank on ancient donkey wheels and leap through time. In other words, the Island provides the means for death-spooked mortals to cheat the grim reaper. I'm betting that's why Old Man Widmore is so desperate to find it. As for Ghost Dad, the Island allows him to stick around in his inexplicable spectral state and might even be facilitating a full-blown bodily resurrection; either scenario represents a violation of the natural order of things. In the end, Jack will no doubt have to convince his father — and possibly his maybe-dead half-sister Claire, too — that they need to move on. Regardless, keeping Terry around portends an emotional climax to Jack's father issue arc.” Really? You got all of that from my one little casting item? Cool.

More David Reyes (Hurley's dad) in Season 5? Cheech seems to think so:

So will there be more appearances from David Reyes when the show returns for Season 5 next year? "I think there is going to be," Marin told me, remarking, "It's amazing the way they manipulated time and the timeline with the flash-forwards."

In case anyone was worried that Lance Reddick might be absent from Lost b/c of his new stint on J.J. Abrams "Fringe" - according to J.J. things look positive:

"...for those of you wondering about the casting of Lance Reddick (Lost's Matthew Abbadon) as a series regular on Fringe, J.J. said it's a safe bet he'll reappear on the Island. "When we were casting him, we hesitated because of his Lost character," J.J. admitted. "But then I realized if he goes and does another show, he'll be less likely to do Lost, so let's get him on this one, because I know the producer."

mb said...

Already some things leaking from Cuselof's lips leading up to Comic Con - good....good :)

a snippet from ABC's live press tour:

"Cuse hints that "the journey about how those six return to the island" will be a major thrust of Season 5. Adds Lindelof: "You have to break your characters up to create conflict... but you can't play that too long because the audience will get frustrated.... And we have that intensely in mind as we proceed.""

Cuse teases we'll see more of Daniel Dae Kim "in some form" this season despite Jin's apparent death.

MB I think you might help shine some light on one of my Questions. How much are the fans involved?
Case in point(sounds official I aint got a clue on the meaning though:)
Miles has a granade in his mouth some one calls in on the Jay and Jack show or the Dharmalars, or Ben or Ralph says......Could'nt he just spit it out and kick it out the window? All of a sudden in the finaly Keami kills Omar with kick of a grnade???? I think we all should find something grnade ...escc to put in the writers head to give the scott+steve site some HIPE?:)

RRB - Thanks man! I'm afraid I can't say that listening back to my own kaeoke is particularly PLEASANT (lol), but I did have fun doing it. RE: Mac kareoke - I agree with you, I enjoy the hell out of that thing - and I also cannot take credit for it. Someone else (who didn't want credit - but I will say is a blogspotter) gets props for that one - hilarious, I thought!

RE: fans affecting plot lines - someone asked me this b4 (was it you?), and I have to say I'm really not sure. It's certainly possible - but the only thing I've ever heard from Cuselof that would corroborate that idea is that they HAVE said that they read fan stuff on the internet (I assume that means blogs) and have made adjustments based on that. The example they have cited that I can remember was Nikki and Paulo - how they were CREATED b/c of supposed fan interest in the "background characters",but then they were axed when people endlessly bitched about them (including me :))
There's probably other stuff I just am not thinking of right now (per usual - lol)

mb said...

Oh -also - LOVE that idea of working the Deuce's cry into an Aerosmith kareoke - if I ever get enough time to do another one, I'll have to try that - lol!

Two new Lost characters for season 5

no casting details... although... how do you pronounce Ilanna? ill-anna? is that it? hmmm. oh well.

Herlihy beat me to the punch!!

Here was my news---I'm about a week latee:

New Lost characters
For Lost’s fifth season, the show is looking to introduce two new characters, sources tell EW.com.

The characters — said to be both mysterious and lethal — are recurring, with an option to become series regulars in Season 6.

The first newbie is Caesar, a dangerous, strong, intelligent guy, in his mid-30s to 40s, with a dark past (shocker), who is as adept at charming people as he is at harming them.

The other newcomer is Ilanna, a European woman in her late-20s, early 30s, who is both brainy, lethal, alluring and used to getting her own way.
