Dark UFO has posted an interview with Francois Chau (Dr. Marvin Candle" from lostspoilers.org, in which he says:
- we will see more of Dr. Candle in Season 5
- The producers have said that season 5 will focus more on the Dharma Initiative.
- He knows who the crying baby in the new video from Comic Con is, but (of course) cannot say.
- The Orchid video from "There's No Place Like Home" is the first of 3 orientation films for the Orchid, so we may see the other 2 films at some point.
- in the Comic Con video - the "credible source" of Pierre Chang’s info is from the voice behind the camera, but (of course) he can’t say who it is.
"Appearing in #502 and #503 will be 'Nigel' and 'Sophie' (names likely will change). Nigel is British, in his late teens. Smart and mature for his age, if a little rough around the edges. Sophie is a British aristocrat in her late teens and appears quite innocent and a little prim, but underneath she is formidable."
Dark UFO speculates: "the first thing that pops into mind are connections to possibly to the Desmond/Penny/Widmore storyline. Of course not necessarily, but I do hope we get more of that story."
Lost is on the prowl for an actor to play Dan, a high-priced attorney who can be friendly, but has a "real menace lurking below the surface." Paging Doc Jensen.... Of course, Dan is yet another Biblical name -- Dan being another one of Jacob's sons. (Also see: Benjamin.) According to Wikipedia, he was the one who hated Joseph so much he conspired to have him thrown into a pit, then smeared blood on Joseph's robes to convince Father Jacob that wild animals killed him.
My hunch is that Dan is a minion in the employ of Charles Widmore, someone who executes a lot of his dirty work -- like, say, working with Libby to further manipulate Desmond into that yacht race. Remember when Sun and Widmore seemed to strike some kind of ominous alliance in the season finale? "Dan" will serve as Widmore's liaison with Sun." Thanks, Doc! You took the words right out of my mouth"
Dark UFO has begun to compile info on Season 5 episodes (as it comes) into their EPISODE GUIDE
So far, theonly new info I see is two castings for episode 5.01 "Because You Left":
[Casear] A dangerous, physical and extremely intelligent male between the ages of 35 and 45. Although his intentions are unclear, this much is certain: he's as skillful at charming people as he is at killing them. He also has a dark past..
[Ilanna] a European female in her late 20s to early 30s who possesses great intelligence, but who's also dangerous as all get out. She's alluring and apparently used to getting her own way.
...Summary of the Season 5 promo. From another forum... i missed most of the stuff summarised... so i thought i'd post it here. Just in case other people aren't watching it, spoilers and all that lark.
"At 40 seconds you can see Dharma Initiative flash, and it appears to be the same font as in the ARG... Someone aiming a rifle to Locke. Juliet unearthing the hatch(?!) Richard holding a torch. Daniel appearing underground(?) wearing a DHARMA hardhat. Locke holding either a compass or a timepiece. Various O6ers, including Hurley holding a silenced pistol, Sayid saying, "We need to get to the safe house," Sayid attacking someone, Hurley: "We never should have left that island," Sun in a room saying, "Open this door!" Kate packing a gun, Aaron asking, "Where're we going Mommy?" "We're going on vacation baby." Juliet, Charlotte, and Miles trekking through the jungle, some sort of meeting/confrontation at the beach camp, Jack: "Everyone we left behind, they'd die too if we didn't come back." Sawyer (shirtless), Dan, Charlotte, Miles, and Juliet in the jungle looking around, someone in a hazmat suit throwing the Swan door open and aiming down on Dan (!!!), Eko's plane falling again (stock footage, looks like), Ben: (looks to be responding to Jack, "Well thank God for second chances."
Overall text: In 2009 the Oceanic Six will risk everything to go back. Destiny calls."
Well. I was checking Ask Ausiello today... and there was TWO pieces of spoiler stuff..
ONE
"No decision has been made yet [regarding LOST's timeslot], but my gut is telling me it'll return to Thursdays at 10 pm. In related news, remember my scoop last week about Lance Reddick returning for an episode? Well, my Hawaii mole reports that he was shooting scenes in a hospital with Charles Widmore. Theorizes Doc Jensen: "If you believe, as I do, that Charles Widmore has been chasing after the island in order to cheat death by exploiting its time-travel properties, my guess is that Daddy Devilbucks was telling his mysterious henchman, ‘Would you please hurry your ass up and find me that Island?! I'm dyin' here!'""

TWO - EPISODE TITLES
Episode 5.01 - Because You Left Episode 5.02 - The Lie Episode 5.03 - Jughead Episode 5.04 - The Little Prince Episode 5.05 - This Place is Death Episode 5.06 - The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham
Well... I was thinking that too.. but, "Because You Left" is a bit of a vague title. It could be about both Jack leaving Kate (or vice versa) or about them leaving the island.
I'm starting to think it could be about Ben... How amazing would it be if the first episode back was a Ben episode...
COOL excellent stuff! I'm going to go ahead and guess that the first one is going to focus a good deal on the island stories AND Ben AND Jack and Kate. I would indeed love a Ben-centric episode to kick off the season, and it may play out that way, but I'll guess that they will touch on a number of stories.
It would be cool though (now that I'm thinking) to hold off on showing any information about the island for at least an episode or two. The mystery would add to drama of the 06's efforts to return I think.
...even after five years the show runners still seem to think we like and care about Jack
I agree that he should be the focus of no more than one episode, but I do feel that his character has taken an interesting turn with his personal downfall off-island. I feel like Jack's gotten a small bit of a character re-boot which has been a good thing.
Oh my god (like Chris said on the SAS blog) - we're talking Lost again. feels good :)
Apparently, producers are casting a 30something female character who would be a love interest for one of our people. Doc Jensen seems to think, and he is a man in the know but i'll get to that, that the love interest is for Sayid... seeing as though he's without someone to romance...
Also.. Doc Jensen also said that he knows who killed John Locke... but it wasn't revealed. That's probably a revelation for s05e06 The Life And Death Of Jeremy Bentham... Oh well.
Question: All of these Lost promos are getting me super pumped for January! Any more news on casting or plot twists to get me even more excited? -- Sam Ausiello: How about a scoop that's equal parts casting news and plot twisty? Per my Lost mole, we're going to meet Jack's grandfather for the first time in episode 7! He'll be played by actor Raymond Barry, who's probably best known for his role as Tom Cruise's dad in Born on the Fourth of July.
You know, I couldn't stand Anna Lucia when she was on. I see she's back. If she came back for something substantial, I'd be ok with it. But if she's back for a cameo say like Libby, I am going to be pissed.

ALRIGHT!
The first bit of Season 5 news is the confirmed TITLE of episode 5.01, which Doc Jensen @EW says is
"Because You Left"
Dark UFO has the short version of the news (Doc Jensen's article is longer)

ALL of that meets with my approval. I'm amazed they've sat on Candle this long.
Erm...

See I'm well nice to all of y'all.

Appaz, she's going to have a surprising connection to a major character.
I bet she's Ben's mother. crackpot theory... but yeah.

Here's the video of the promo

KABLAMMO!
It's not a problem. :D If i see stuff that's not been posted... I'll put it up... It's not as if i'm doing loads though.

Episode 5.03 - Jughead
Episode 5.04 - The Little Prince
Episode 5.05 - This Place is Death
Episode 5.06 - The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham
So yeah.
Fun stuff!
They're really persevering with that "Because You Left" title, aren't they?
If the title of ep 6 is genuine then I'm already looking forward to that.
Then again, I was looking forward to Meet Kevin Johnson as well.
so right. I'm thinking that the centric episodes are
1 - Jack and/or Kate
2 - ??? (i dunno for this one)
3 - Sayid
4 - Kate
5 - Hurley
6 - erm.... Juliet? :D
...but that's all speculation of course... there's no proof there at all.
I think "Because You Left" might detail the "terrible things" that befell the island after Jack and pals' departures.
Will the season proper begin on episode 1 or will it, like last year, not really start until episode 2?
Well... I was thinking that too.. but, "Because You Left" is a bit of a vague title. It could be about both Jack leaving Kate (or vice versa) or about them leaving the island.
I'm starting to think it could be about Ben... How amazing would it be if the first episode back was a Ben episode...
Agreed - but even after five years the show runners still seem to think we like and care about Jack.
...Last years was a break from tradition though and was a Hurley episode.
I'm still in shock over the fact that we only had one Jack episode and the fact that it was episode 10...
COOL excellent stuff! I'm going to go ahead and guess that the first one is going to focus a good deal on the island stories AND Ben AND Jack and Kate. "Thyan".
Nah... It's fine MB. I just expect kudos on your next spoiler segment :D:D:D
Most definitely :)
Right.

I just realized that I made my last post as scott and steve - oops! I obviously had forgotten to log out and back in as mb :/
You really should stop thanking me MB!
I think you should just shower me with gifts instead :D
Herlihy I believe giving (as in spoilers) is its own reward ;)
Dang... Thought i was onto a winner there!
Anyhoo...
MOAR SPOILERS
24 star in line for LOST role
well... it's more possible casting news than spoilers.
Could she be the one who's supposed to be the new love interest for "someone"?
OMG SPOILERS
Jesus christ. That could be absolutely amazing. I hope it's true right.
New Sayid?
I assume it's for a flashback... would be interesting to see how Sayid has daddy issues.

Off topic, but good CIA episode, Steph and MB.
And thank you for the nice things you had to say about me.
I will now return you to normal SPLOG behaviour:
WOOHOO! LOST!
Some more spoilers for the premiere
Some really good theories about season 5
Alas, it's nothing concrete. Could be good if it happens.
